Wreck Fishing is a fantastic way to bend the rod on some BIG fish! Are you ready to test your strength and technique on powerful trophy-sized fish? Then Wreck fishing is the way to go! Start your 6-hour trip on the reef first to catch your dinner, and then head to deeper waters to hunt for something big.

The waters of Marathon, Florida contain many sunken boats and ships which are home to some  VERY BIG fish.

The reef is where we get our groceries and the wreck is where we get our trophies! The waters surrounding Marathon Florida have many sunken boats and some larger ships and even a sunken airplane! These underwater wrecks have become an artificial reef for many fish to hide in including some very large predators. Wreck fishing consists of dropping live or cut bait just near the bottom to attract these larger predatory fish. Each underwater wreck has different species to offer depending on the time of year.  Amberjack are common residents of the wrecks pretty much year round which are pound for pound one of the hardest fighting fish out there. It is not uncommon to hook into a large Amberjack anywhere from 60-100lbs!

Large Mutton Snapper upwards of 20+lbs are also available often just outside the wrecks. Mutton Snapper will eat live bait or cut bait depending on the day and while the bite is much more subtle with them once you hook one you are in for a good fight! The meat on a Mutton Snapper is highly desired as it is firm white and delicious. In the late winter and early spring some Wrecks will have schools of Permit swimming around and with a live crab and a good cast, you have a good shot at hooking one! Later on, in the Summer months some very large Sharks start to appear on the wrecks and if you are crazy enough to ask, a very large hook and massive bait can be used to hook into bullsharks anywhere from 300-500lbs! Very fun day! Greg and Chris were great with my kids (ages 11, 9, and 7). Never had to wait for bait or touch a fish. Caught plenty of delicious fish that we took to a nearby restaurant to have it blackened, coconut fried, and sautéed. Great trip!
